About Prologue Technology

Prologue Technology is a shipping and logistics technology company focused on transportation and shipment management. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Flat World Global Solutions, a transportation logistics company.

Prologue's core product is a proprietary Transportation Management System called Pipeline, used daily by small, mid-sized, and enterprise shippers to rate and execute shipments. The platform handles parcel, less-than-truckload, and full truckload shipments, including carrier selection, tracking, and billing.

Challenges: Fragile and Time-Consuming Document Generation

Generated documents are a critical component of Prologue’s system, supporting shipment documentation, invoicing, and a wide range of reports.

Before adopting CxReports, generating customer invoices and internal reports was a complex and time-consuming process. The team relied on legacy HTML and CSS templates rendered into PDFs through a custom backend solution. This approach was clunky, lacked pixel-perfect design, and required going through the full software development lifecycle even for minor design changes.

Creating new custom reports meant manually building HTML and CSS each time. The results were rarely pixel-perfect and often introduced challenges such as data overlapping elements as content grew.

Another key factor to choose CxReports was the intuitive drag-and-drop report editor, which enables teams to create and adjust templates without complex coding while ensuring pixel-perfect document layouts.

Before choosing CxReports, Prologue also evaluated Crystal Reports. However, it did not provide a clear path to adoption and, at the time, lacked a simple download and installation process. The team also required a solution they could self-host for maximum performance and control, a requirement that CxReports met seamlessly.

Reporting is extremely critical to Prologue’s daily operations. Approximately 1,150 customer invoices are generated every day, providing the cash flow necessary to support the company’s activities. CxReports keeps the process running without issues, and the team can easily generate and update invoicing documents accurately and on time. The fact that, if CxReports were ever unavailable, the invoicing process would halt highlights just how essential the platform is to their workflows.
